The
Hare Krishna Movement has begun five hundred years
ago, on the turn of the century, at Bengal (east India).
Our society belongs to the branch founded by Sri Caitanya
Mahaprabhu, who has established as the most effective
way of spreading our connection with God, meditation
and singing of the Holy Names thru the Maha-mantra
Hare Krishna.
On
1965, by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami
Prabhupada (Srila Prabhupada), has brought this ancient
knowledge to West. The International Society for Krishna
Consciousness (ISKCON) was established in 1966 in

Rio de Janeiro’s Hare Krishna Temple
The
International Society for Krishna Consciousness of
Rio de Janeiro (ISKCON-RJ) was established on 1976,
with the installation of a magnificent shrine for
the worship of Sri Sri Gaura Nitai Nataraj.
Nowadays
it’s located at 1990, Road of Barra da Tijuca - Itanhangá
(West zone of Rio)
Nearby
a land has been bought by the devotes from Rio de
Janeiro’s congregation, where it will be build a brand
new temple to Lord Jagannatha. The house itself has
a large space where we’ve got an altar and space for
courses, seminars. It has also a restaurant. We’ve
got an Ashram for the resident monks in devotional
activities, for Philosophy and Theology students as
well.
